Here’s a recap in case you missed it: The episode takes place during the Christmas season in 1964. Betty Draper and her children, accompanied by Henry, are shopping for a Christmas tree when Betty has an unexpected (and awkward) run-in with Glen Bishop. While Betty is off picking a tree, her ex-husband Don is getting closer with his neighbor, nurse Phoebe. The two have a series of brief encounters, including Phoebe helping a drunken Don get to bed. Back at Sterling Cooper Draper Price, senior copywriter Freddy Rumsen has returned, clean and sober. Freddy and Peggy butt heads almost immediately – Peggy is frustrated with what she sees as Freddy’s “old fashioned” attitudes. Peggy has a lot on her mind. She’s in the midst of an internal struggle about whether to sleep with her boyfriend, Mark. She eventually does – reluctantly. The holidays are clearly in full swing, and Sterling Cooper celebrates accordingly with a huge holiday office bash. The whole staff (minus Freddy) gathers to dance, drink and generally be merry, with the exception of Roger, who is ordered to don a Santa suit and take pictures with everyone. these summaries are great, but I really find the voice/accent of the the woman who is speaking to be very irritating. If the Mad Men series can use acceptable accents, why can’t these episode summaries.
