I’m pretty sure it is because it falls under the “False Advertising” law. I remember reading somewhere that someone got arested for doing that. But as long as they don’t find you… you might be good. =(^-^)=
If you are setting up your ex-girlfriend to be raped then yes, you will get caught and you will do time. This has happened before and judges come down hard on people that do this.
If you are creating a fake persona based on no real person and aren’t involving anyone without their knowledge, then it’s probably okay.
Craigs list has a history of problems, and and is regulated by the federal government (FCC) , and and law enforcement do monitor websites for wrong doings. Mostly for prostitution, scams, etc. If you do post something, knowing it’s false information, and someone complains, and if your caught, could be in trouble. Just some advice, that’s all. It’s up to you, if you put a fake ad, and use false information. You seem to know it’s wrong already by asking, and whatever your reason is, a joke, use someone else’s name and info, see if you get replies and not reply yourself, whatever your reason, chances of getting caught are????? Think it over, people do things wrong on Craigs list, and get caught, be smart, if for fun, and experimenting, and want to see what happens, try your luck, other wise, I’d leave it alone, or put correct info.
not really, people seem to do it all the time.

No it is not illegal. It would only be illegal if you are posting ads about selling your body to others.
